2012-11-25: A dancer who wins an OPEN Championships that meets the following criteria is automatically moved in to Open level for ALL solo dances if they are not already in that grade.

1/. Championship panel of at least 3 Adjudicators

2/. Championship has at least a Soft Shoe Round and a Hard Shoe round

3/. Championship has at least 5 dancers who participate

2012-10-06: Update costume rules:

The following rules apply to all dancers taking part in WIDA open platform competitions:
Dancers up to and including the age of under15 entered in primary and intermediate competitions must wear a school costume or a beginner outfit.
Dancers who fail to follow this rule cannot finish in the top three of a result.
Dancers up to and including the age of under15 in beginners, primary and intermediate competitions may only wear bun wigs in competition. Full wigs are not allowed and may result in a dancer being dropped from the top three of a result if this rule is not followed. Tiaras may be worn in primary & intermediate competitions.

By submitting your application, you are agreeing that:

a) You must be available and must attend the rehearsal, expected to take place on evening of 04/04/13.

b) You must be available and must attend the Opening Ceremony on the morning of 05/04/13.

c) You must be available directly following Worlds results on 07/04/12 for a closing ceremony.

Terms and conditions:

Dancers submitting an application to take part should ensure their availability in respect of travel plans. Any selected dancer who cannot attend should notify organisers immediately so that a replacement can be found.

Any dancer who does not attend the rehearsal WILL NOT take part in the Opening Ceremony. Reserve dancers will be ready to step in instead. Similarly, dancers who do not attend at the last minute or who do not notify organisers in advance of their non-attendance will not be eligible to take part in the opening ceremony in subsequent years.

Rehearsal times are subject to change. Participants will be notified of changes in advance.

Dancers must be of a height that they can carry the flag poles across the stage unaided. This unfortunately makes the ceremony unsuitable for young dancers (who will be dancing first anyway).

Dancers must arrive for the ceremony on 05/04/13 in full costume (Class costume or solo costume).

Applications are welcomed from both male and female dancers of all nationalities.

2012-07-16: The contract for the World and European Championships has been signed and the hotel is now open for booking. The venue will once again be the wonderful Maritim Hotel at Dusseldorf Airport in Germany. The dates of the event are April 5th - 7th 2013 which is the weekend AFTER Easter.
When contacting the hotel to book a room you must use the reference WORLD IRISH DANCE ASSOCIATION . Rates are the same for 2013 as they were for 2012.
Double inc breakfast is €119 per night.

For those of you who attended our event in 2012 you will already know that the hotel is next to Dusseldorf Airport terminal and a 2 minute walk from terminal to hotel. We look forward to seeing you all in Germany next year.
